ABOUT US
Gombe State High Court of Justice
Established
Established as a Superior Court of Record following the creation of Gombe State in 1996, under Section 270 of the 1999 Constitution.
Our Mission
To ensure an efficient and transparent administration of justice through the rule of law and judicial independence.
Constitutional Mandate
The High Court of Justice is a key component of the Gombe State Judiciary. While the Judiciary encompasses all courts in the state, the High Court exercises original and appellate jurisdiction as defined by law.
Original Jurisdiction
The Court has the power to hear and determine any civil proceedings in which the existence or extent of a legal right, power, duty, liability, privilege, interest, obligation or claim is in issue. It also handles serious criminal matters.
Appellate Jurisdiction
We serve as a vital link in the justice chain by hearing appeals from the Magistrates’ Courts. This ensures that every citizen has the right to a fair review of lower court decisions.
Administrative Leadership
Beyond the bench, the High Court is supported by a robust administrative framework led by the Chief Registrar.
-
The Chief Registrar:
The Chief Accounting Officer and head of administration for the High Court.
-
The Probate Registry:
Responsible for the administration of estates, wills, and letters of administration.
-
The Litigation Department:
